Miracle in Madison — the rest of America, please take note

After all the caterwauling and name-calling by Congressional Democrats during the debt ceiling debate, and before Wisconsin voters go to the polls in an attempt to dump their state back in the Democratic doldrums, it is useful to look at what a united Republican government has accomplished there. After the return of the Democratic members of the state’s legislature who scuttled off to Illinois rather than stay home and make the hard decisions, in just six months Republicans have:
√ Passed a state budget, on time, that has turned a $3 billion deficit into a $300 million surplus, putting the state in the black for the first time in over a decade — without a tax increase.
√ Enacted broad business tax reforms that will save Wisconsin businesses over $130 million a year.
√ Enacted collective bargaining reforms which have saved the state and local school districts millions of dollars, enabling some districts to actually add teachers and cut class size.
√ As a result, Wisconsin’s job growth has surged in the last six months; 88 percent of Wisconsin businesses say the state is on the right track vs. only ten percent a year ago and over half expect to add jobs in the next year.
√ Coincidentally, the latest Rasmussen poll shows only 14% of Americans believe the country is headed in the right direction, the lowest level since November 2, 2008. See, Obama has produced a turnaround, too.
Comment: Just imagine what could be done if those rascally Republican “terrorists” were in control of both houses of the U.S. Congress and that little white abode about 16 blocks to the Northwest.
