New Illinois FOID Law Requires Background Checks On All Gun Sales

by Tom Knighton
Bearing Arms

“Illinois didn’t have universal background checks in the most technical sense. What they did have was a FOID card requirement. You had to have one to legally buy a gun, which meant you’d passed a background check, but it wasn’t a true universal background check system.  However, there were problems with the FOID system. It was old and needed to be updated. Illinois just took care of that.  The problem is that in doing so, they also included a bunch of other stuff,” according to Bearing Arms.

by Andrew Mark Miller
Washington Examiner

According to the Washington Examiner, “’We don’t have a gun problem in America. What we have is a criminal problem,’ Craig said during a recent Fox News interview. ‘Criminals don’t follow the law. They’re going to get guns, so what do we want to focus on? Getting guns from law-abiding citizens? … It’s not about guns. It’s about criminals who have guns, and they don’t get the guns legally. That’s the bottom line.’”

New Poll Shows Americans Don’t Support Gun Control

by Tom Knighton
Bearing Arms

“We keep hearing all about how the American public supports gun control. To hear anti-gunners tell it, there’s nothing that would make America happier than a nice big bowl of regulations restricting our right to keep and bear arms.  But, then again, they’re not the best people to trust,” according to Bearing Arms.

If Hawaii’s Gun Control Won’t Stop Violent Crime, What Will?

by Tom Knighton
Bearing Arms

“Hawaii has the distinction of being the only state that lacks borders as we typically think of them. It’s an island state out in the middle of the Pacific. It has tons of gun control laws on the books and because it’s an island, it’s rather difficult to transport weapons illegally, especially since the most common way to travel there is to fly and thus requiring people to deal with airport security,” according to Bearing Arms.
